How can I describe to you the goodness and beauty of a sovereign and mighty God?

So many times God wants to give so much of Himself, yet we push away.

Jesus died a shameful death so that we may have life, yet we act as if He was just a regular man.

He gave hope to the hopeless, and strength to the weak….

“For the joy that was set before Him He endured the cross, scorning it’s shame…” (Hebrews 12:2)

We cannot think that in living our lives we won’t lose what we gain from this world, because those things can easily be taken away…they are fleeting moments!

“What good is  it for a man to gain the whole world and lose his own soul?”  (Matthew 16:26)

I know there is hurt and pain in this world, and life is sometimes tough…but remember who holds you when you cry yourself to sleep…even though you don’t see Him or feel Him.

“You number my wanderings; Put my tears in your bottle; are they not in Your book? When I cry out to You, Then my enemies will turn back; This I know because God is for me!” (Ps. 56:8-9)

The most beautiful thing we can do is to turn our eyes and fix our gaze upon the beauty of the glorious God who gave us life and snatched us from the fire.

“Is not this man a burning stick snatched from the fire.” (Zechariah 3:2)

There are no words to describe how AWESOME He is.

And the most amazing and beautiful thing is that HE calls us BELOVED!

“Let the Beloved of the Lord rest secure in Him, for He shields him all day long, and the one the Lord loves rests between His shoulders.” (Deuteronomy 33:12)

As I was driving to work early one morning, the sun was extremely bright and was hitting directly at my eyes where it was blocking my vision. Even with my sunglasses on it was still quite bothersome. So I decided to put down my visor, and though the sun was still very bright I was able to see more clear without the sun hitting directly in face.

Now, there’s a point to this story…you see, as I lowered that visor to block the sun, it suddenly dawned on me…how many of us, when God wants to shine His light and His amazing beauty directly on us we decide to go for that visor and block what He wants to do in our lives. Even though we still get little bits of that light, the full light that He wants to embrace us with is being blocked by the limitations we put on Him. As I was thinking of these things while I was driving these words popped into my head,

“Beloved, it’s ALL or nothing!”

Are we telling God that we want to experience some of Him and not ALL of Him?

What we have to realize is we can’t have one foot in and one foot out…anything that is not God is against God and therefore He cannot go against Himself. Jesus gave ALL of Himself on that cross not half of Himself and God wants the same in return.

Beloved….It’s ALL or nothing!

The Word of God is my Weapon!!!

What is my weapon?

Picture taken by Crystal Image Photo Art (

August 8, 2010....The most joyous day of my life....My Baptism!!!

When feelings of despair and loneliness seem to cloud my vision…What is my weapon?

When sickness seems to dim my light….What is my weapon?

When lies bombard my mind with restless thoughts….What is my Weapon?

When chaos and confusion hit close to the heart….What is my weapon?

When fear grips my sleep and cause anxiety….What is my weapon?

When unforgiveness and thoughts of the past haunts my present and my future….What is my weapon?

When issues arise in my life….What is my weapon?

When the enemy comes in like a flood and tries to fill me with hopelessness and shame….What is my weapon?

Nehemiah was a great example of someone who knew how to do the work he was called to do while relying on the Lord to protect them even when circumstance was against him. Nehemiah was mocked and threatened, but he did not allow himself to become discouraged because he knew God was well able to provide and honor his heart to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. And he called out to God so that he can intercede for his people. God honored him all the way. The wonderful thing about this story is how every single person who was building the wall became very watchful of their surroundings because of the threat of their enemies. So in that while they worked on the wall with one hand….they held a weapon in the other. In the same way…as we do the work of God with one hand…in the other we must have a weapon and be watchful of the times….and my weapon is the Word of God.

(Nehemiah 4:8-20)

8  And they all plotted together to come and fight against Jerusalem, to injure and cause confusion and failure in it.9  But because of them we made our prayer to our God and set a watch against them day and night.10  And [the leaders of] Judah said, The strength of the burden bearers is weakening, and there is much rubbish; we are not able to work on the wall.11  And our enemies said, They will not know or see till we come into their midst and kill them and stop the work.12  And when the Jews who lived near them came, they said to us ten times, You must return [to guard our little villages]; from all places where they dwell they will be upon us.13  So I set [armed men] behind the wall in places where it was least protected; I even thus used the people as families with their swords, spears, and bows.14  I looked [them over] and rose up and said to the nobles and officials and the other people, Do not be afraid of the enemy; [earnestly] remember the Lord and imprint Him [on your minds], great and terrible, and [take from Him courage to] fight for your brethren, your sons, your daughters, your wives, and your homes.15  And when our enemies heard that their plot was known to us and that God had frustrated their purpose, we all returned to the wall, everyone to his work.16  And from that time forth, half of my servants worked at the task, and the other half held the spears, shields, bows, and coats of mail; and the leaders stood behind all the house of Judah.17  Those who built the wall and those who bore burdens loaded themselves so that everyone worked with one hand and held a weapon with the other hand,18  And every builder had his sword girded by his side, and so worked. And he who sounded the trumpet was at my side.19  And I said to the nobles and officials and the rest of the people, The work is great and scattered, and we are separated on the wall, one far from another.20  In whatever place you hear the sound of the trumpet, rally to us there. Our God will fight for us.

I came across this email that was sent to me by a friend from the church that I attend. I found it very interesting and encouraging to know that there are still people who are willing to stand for the word of God and are not willing to give up the Truth even though the circumstances seem to be a bit intimidating or controversial, as some would say it. In this email contained a prayer that a Pastor so boldly prayed in the opening of the Kansas Senate. Mind you, he was asked to open up the session in prayer. Here is what he prayed…..

      “Heavenly Father,  We

           come   before you

               today to ask

    your forgiveness and to seek

   your direction and guidance…

We know Your Word says, ‘Woe to those who call evil good,’ but that

is exactly what we have done.

We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values.

We have exploited the poor and called it the

We have rewarded laziness and called it

We have killed our unborn and called it

We have shot abortionists and called it

We have neglected to discipline our children and called it

                               building self-esteem…

We have abused power and called it

We have coveted our neighbor’s possessions and called it

We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it

                                 freedom of expression.

We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called

                                      it enlightenment.

                Search us, Oh, God, and know our hearts today;

cleanse us from every sin and set us free..

                                 ~Pastor Joe Wright~

Now tell me how many people including the legislators walked out of that place in protest. My question is…Why? But we all know the answer to that. Because they know it’s the truth and they cannot come face to face with the person they really are. They know that they have allowed this country to slip down a dark and scary road…Demanding that God be taken out of schools, and people who preach Jesus to keep silent. Well…not anymore! Some say, it’s time to rise up and stand! God’s people are still standing boldly without any shame…facing the lion. God says, He sends us out as sheep among wolves. The funny thing about sheep is that they are good at obeying, and the crazy thing about wolves is that they are sly and cunning…deceitful and only around for one thing…to prey on the weak, and they stick around hiding…waiting…very quietly until they see that their prey is lost or dieing to sneak up on them when they’re at their lowest point. The one thing about sheep though is that they are almost always being watched and looked after by their Shepard. And as Jesus said the sheep only know the voice of  their shepards…and they know they are protected. Even when they are lost He will find them, and when they are weak, He will care for them.

We have come to a place in this lifetime where freedom of expression is encouraged…yet Christians aren’t free to speak out about their faith. Slowly and slowly our rights have been dwindling down to almost nothing, yet we are still called free. It’s okay to call on the name of Allah because it’s considered to be diversity, but God forbid I call on the name of Jesus, that’s considered to be offensive! How much more can we tolerate the silence…and how much more can we go about pretending to be spiritual, yet keep the only answer we know to ourselves. Some people might call that reserved and shy…well, I call that selfish!

I am encouraged to take a stand and get out of my own little place of comfort and peace and cause a fire that will burn in people’s hearts…wake up the dead, stir up the sleeping…cause havoc for Christ instead of  staying in my safe haven. Let’s do something and take a stand with boldness…AND STAND FACE TO FACE WITH THE LION!!!

My King was born King!!!

The Bible says He’s a sevenway King,

He’s a King of the Jews, that’s a racial King!

He’s a King of Israel, that’s a national King!

He’s a King of Righteousness, He’s a King of the ages!

His word is enough! His grace is sufficient! His reign is righteous!

His yoke is easy and His burden is light!

I wish I could describe Him to you, but….He’s indescribable!

He’s incomprehensible! He’s invincible! He’s irresistible!

The heaven of heavens cannot contain Him, let alone a man explain Him!

You can’t get Him out of your mind! You can’t get Him off of your hand!

You can’t outlive Him and you can’t live without Him!

The Pharisees couldn’t stand Him!

But they found out they couldn’t stop Him!!

Pilate couldn’t find any fault in Him!

The witnesses couldn’t get their testimonies to agree!

Herod couldn’t kill Him!

Death couldn’t handle Him!

And the grave couldn’t hold Him!

He always has been, and He always will be!

He has no predecessor! And He’ll have no successor!

There was nobody before Him and there’ll be nobody after Him!

You can’t impeach Him! And He’s not going to resign!

We around here talking about the:

Black Power, and White Power, and green power, but….

It’s God’s power! Thine is the Power!!! And the Glory!!!

We try and find prestige and honor and glory for ourselves…but…

the Glory is all His!!!

AMEN!!!!!! AMEN!!!!! AND AMEN!!!!!!

****Note from Starsha-This is a very powerful sermon that was preached along time ago from the late Pator S.M. Lockridge!  I thought I should share after the Pastor in my church preached a sermon quite similar to this one, which was extremely powerful and encouraging, and than after his sermon he played the sermon that Pastor Lockridge had preached…and it was so amazing I knew that I only had to post a blog and share with all of my readers. Hope it touches you like it did me…ENJOY!!!

This is a little something that I found on youtube and decided to put it on here, because the young man that is preaching this is so full of excitement, and I thought I should share this as well. He also is preaching from the sermon “That’s My King” by Pastor S.M. Lockridge!

In this day and age there are great people and there are GREAT people. I don’t use this term lightly.  There are people who were born great, ordinary people, wonderful personalities, caring and giving, modest and special. They were born with the laughter and smiles that light up the world, bringing joy to people everywhere they go even if they are weathering their own little storms. Those people are exceptional and okay with ordinary things of life, taking it one day at a time and enjoying what they have. And that’s great, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that because we sure do need a lot more people like that in the times we are living in. But than there are those people who were born to DO something GREAT. They are great because through the sweat, blood and tears, through many trials and adversities they did what no else could do or wanted to do. They did something GREAT. Of course, we also need people like that. If those people didn’t press through the hardships we wouldn’t have what we have now that so many take advantage of. For example, if Humphrey Davy never invented the lightbulb, Thomas Edison would have never perfected it and we’d still be using lanterns and candles for light. It would be as if we were living in the stone ages. If Wilbur and Orville Wright (the Wrights brothers) never invented the airplane we would be traveling on the ground or by boat to our destinations, and it would take us weeks or months to get to where we need to go instead of the 2-4 hour flights it takes now. If somone did not take the initiative to build the car engine or the car battery to make the car run, we’d still have to ride on horse and carriages. And with the luxuries we have now, like the computer or the cell phone, if all that was taken away it would be a nightmare. Everything we rely on is in the technology of this age and the ideas and inventions of others. Now bare with me because I’m actually going somewhere with this. You see, those people decided to step out, even when others may have thought they were crazy for thinking the way they did, or mocking them because they didn’t believe it could be done, that it was just there imaginations that were too much for their own limited and boxed up minds. They decided to go up against society and the limitations of what “could not” be done and they did it. No questions asked. They believed it and they made up their minds to accomplish the impossibilities and the unimaginable, no matter what the cost. Their non-wavering faith in what they believed in, many years later, resulted in people dwelling in houses that have electricity, light, they have a faster way of travel, technology beyond what anyone could comprehend. What people may have thought was impossible became the possible through certain individuals who decided to step up and stand out. Our society thrives on the technological advancements of those who believed in what they were born to do.

Now take Jesus, a carpenter, a Son born of a human being, a Man that society rejected. Why? Because He knew that He was the Son of God. He was God in the flesh. He did things that many people did not believe in or struggled to believe in, even though He did the miraculous and impossible in front of their eyes. “Look, you scoffers and scorners, and marvel and perish and vanish away; for I am doing a deed in your days, a deed which you will never have confidence in or believe, [even] if someone [clearly describing it in detail] declares it to you” (Acts 13:41, Amplified). Also the Bible says in Habakkuk 1:5 “Look around you, replied the Lord, among the nations and see! And be astonished! Astounded! For I am putting into effect a work in your days [such] that you would not believe it if it were told you.” But either way Jesus made a huge impact. He challenged those who were so-called “spiritual” and He challenged those who were sinners and unworthy to stand before a God so righteous. But which one took the challenges He gave and actually did something with it? I’ll tell you that it was those who were less likely to be voted “Spiritual Leader of the Year”. They all had a decision to make. No one was exempt. And He didn’t give each one more or less than the other. It was all the same message, one Gospel. There was not one that was holier or full of more sin than the other. They were all given the same opportunity. But it was those who believed that Jesus was the Christ. It was those who believed in the power of the message. Those who believed the impossiblities with God can truly become possible. Those are the ones that took it and became something GREAT. Maybe not in societies eyes, because they were already rejected by society. But in the eyes of the most important One…God, and the eyes of those who actually believed. Those people, through Jesus Christ, did GREAT things because they knew that their were people who needed someone who was going to do what others wouldn’t normally do. Those specific people took God’s challenge, believed in it, and made a decision to serve God, serve people, bring the Gospel to ALL the nations, and come hell or high water they weren’t going to be silenced, they weren’t going to be stopped, and they weren’t going to be persuaded otherwise. They were going to take the whole cousel of God and bring it to the lost and dieing and the people who needed a Savior. These people were GREAT! They took what many generations thought they could do without and turned it around.

Saul, who was a great pharisee, someone who imprisoned Christians and gave consent to have them killed and watched while it happened, was thrown off is “high horse” (literally) and came to the knowledge and revelation of Christ. Later being named Paul, He took that testimony and that gospel and became GREAT for Christ. He was one that didn’t stop when it was too hard or difficult. He decided that he was going to run the race until the end, even if it cost him his life. Which it did, later on. Proof that he was not just all talk and no action. I like the way James in the bible puts it, he says, “But someone will say, ‘You have faith, and I have works.’ Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe-and tremble! But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?” (James 2:18-20). Paul was this man that SHOWED his faith by what he did in Christ. He was ALL about ACTS!

What is going to take for many of us to make a decision for Christ? I want to do great things for God…to do that is to start where I am at now. I don’t just want to be ordinary. We were all born to be great. But it’s the decision that we make that will lead us there. Everyday I have a conscious decision to make that when I wake up in the morning, I’m waking up to go to work. And then after work, I make the decision whether I should go home or hang out or do something else. I make a decision to eat at the time I’m going to eat and so forth. It’s the same with Christianity. I wake up in the morning and decide am I going to serve Christ today or am I going to serve the world? It is a decision we all have to make. The bible says to work out our own salvation, “Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absense, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasures” (Philippians 2:12-13).

I decided for Christ a long time ago and I’m still choosing Him. But the decision to become great for Him still lies within us and our own ability to decide if we just want the ordinary things of life or the extra-ordinary things of life. Which is what God originally ordained for us. The GREAT commission. It’s not called GREAT for no reason. It’s a great responsibility to take on. We have to decide once and for all whose side are we on? If not God’s, then whose? You see, I have a thought that if I just do what is expected of me from society and culture, such as to settle down, get married, have children, become successful in my career and make money to live and retire comfortably, or to just be a simple ministry worker and nothing more…than I’m already empty, I’ve missed the mark that God had destined for me. I mean, don’t get me wrong, there is absolutely nothing wrong with those things, because I do desire those things…family, and a good home and be involved in ministry, and it’s great for those who want exactly that. But I just can’t help the feeling that there has to be something more. I don’t want to be recognized to be given a pat on the back and say ‘good job’. It’s more than that…I want to follow Christ to the point that there is nothing left for me but to continue following Him and when the time comes and I have to stand before Him God Himself will be able to tell me “Well Done!”

In my life right now, there is this big hole, like something’s missing. When I’m telling someone about the gospel of Christ I can’t help feeling unsatisfied. Like I want more, I want miracles, I want God’s power moving through this city and nation. I want healings, not just physically, but mentally, emotionally, spiritually in people’s lives. I want to see that happen. So I leave that person I’m talking to with an unsatisfied feeling, if they do not accept Christ, what is it that I could have done more. It’s not enough for me. In Zechariah 3:1-2 “Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the Angel of the Lord, and satan standing at his right side to accuse him. The Lord said to satan, ‘The Lord rebuke you, satan! The Lord, who has chosen Jerusalem, rebuke you! Is not this man a burning stick snatched from the fire?’ ” Those words right there are powerful, to describe a man as a “burning stick snatched from the fire!” That’s how all Christians should see a soul. What else can I do but proclaim the glorious gospel to those who are headed for the fire. Which is why I am unsatisfied, I want more. I’m not saying I want to be the greatest person, I just want to help people, I don’t want to sit back and accomplish nothing. I don’t want to be an on-looker, I want to be in the race. I feel empty without God and if I’m not doing something for Him, I can’t escape the feeling I’m missing something big, and I’m not working to the full potential God has created me to do. I was not built for sitting back, I was built to stand up! As a massage therapist and a person who is in the medical field I can say that our bodies literally were not made for sitting down for long periods of time. It’s not good for our health. We can only sit for so long, than we’d have to start doing something and putting our legs to good use. Without movement there is very little blood circulation in the body. That is the same in Christianity.

If we take a look at those people who defyed the impossible to do what they believed in doing and actually accomplished it even though they were mocked and society didn’t believe in it, than how much more can we do it if God is on our side and He is not limited by our own limitations. Jesus said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to the Father” (John 14:12-13).  This year…2011…is a new year…we can’t change what we did in 2010 or in the years prior. But today is a new day, and “Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. I say to myself ‘The Lord is my portion; therefore I will wait for Him’ ” (Lamentations 3: 22-24).  So let’s take this year and make that great move to serve Him and live for Him with more passion and conviction than we ever have before!!!

“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover. So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God. And they went out and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming the word through the accompanying signs. Amen.”
